Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! Every student in a Grade 9 class in the WRDSB receives a Chromebook for school use upon attendance at their new Secondary School. New students to the WRDSB who arrive at or after their September start date also get a Chromebook. Click here if you want to learn more about the Chromebook 1:1 project?

Please keep reading through this posting if you want to know the following;

  1. How and when will grade 9 students get a Chromebook?

2. I just moved switched to WRDSB from another school district, but I am in grades 10-12, how will I get my Chromebook?

3. I am a returning student but my Chromebook is lost/damaged or not working right. How can I get help?

4. I have graduated or left the WRDSB and need to return my Chromebook, texts or other items. How can I return them?

1. How and when will grade 9 students get their new Chromebook?

  • In-person Grade 9 students will be brought down to the cafeteria with their teachers throughout the morning and afternoon of their first day of school, Sept 7th. In order to receive a Chromebook parents/guardians with their students are required to have a 1:1 Chromebook Agreement Form completed. Students/parents do not need to print the form as we will have a list of those students whose parents have completed the online form. There will be a digital copy of the form sent to each respondent which is also acceptable as a last minute option to verify the form is completed. If students will miss this opportunity or wish to pick up their Chromebook early they may pickup their Chromebooks on Thursday, September 2nd or Tuesday, September 7th from 2:15-3:15 pm which will occur just outside the cafeteria doors at the corner of Laurelwood Drive and Erbsville Road. Drive-by curbside pickup is not available and parents are asked to park in the rear lot for student and community safety reasons.
  • Secondary Remote Learning Program (SRLP) Grade 9 students or their parents may pickup their Chromebooks on Thursday, September 2nd or Tuesday, September 7th from 2:15-3:15 pm which will occur just outside the cafeteria doors at the corner of Laurelwood Drive and Erbsville Road. Drive-by curbside pickup is not available and parents are asked to park in the rear lot for student and community safety reasons. There will be no access to the building.  In order to receive a Chromebook parents/guardians with their students are required to complete the following form;

    1:1 Chromebook Agreement Form

    Students/parents do not need to print the form as we will have a record of those students whose parents have completed the online form.  There will be a digital copy of the form sent to each respondent which is also acceptable to show staff as a last minute option to verify the form is completed.

 2. I just moved/switched to WRDSB from another school/district, but I am in grades 10-12, how will I get a Chromebook?

Students new to WRDSB become eligible for a Chromebook upon their first day of attendance at their home school once their google accounts activate. Students in this circumstance must complete the following two forms with their parent’s/guardian’s participation.

Completing these above forms now will help us coordinate a quicker pickup option. Once we receive the form responses we will contact students/parents/guardians to determine when and how the Chromebook will be distributed.

3. I am a returning student but my Chromebook is lost/damaged or not working right. How can I get help?

Please complete the following Chromebook Issues Ticket

We will process these requests over the week of September 8th-11th as soon as we are able and based on available stock.

4. I have graduated or left the WRDSB and need to return my Chromebook, textbooks, library books, uniform etc. or other items. How can I return them?

Please deliver your items that were on loan during any workday during working hours 8:40 AM – 3:00 pm by visiting the Main Entrance of the school and calling the main office number. Make sure your items are clearly labelled with your name so we can check you off our lists! Access to the building will not be permitted for returning students or their parents/agents.

Please contact Mr. Denhart (jason_denhart@wrdsb.ca) if you have any questions regarding Chromebooks.
