Dear Sir John A. Macdonald families,

I write this to you knowing that we are all worried and concerned during these unprecedented times:  For our loved ones; for our society; for our livelihoods and for your child’s/your education.  I can also appreciate that, despite Ministry announcements within the media and WRDSB announcements on all of its school websites, you have many specific questions and wish for more detail in this moment.

Please know that the board and the province are reviewing the approach to student learning.

From yesterday’s website message from the WRDSB:

” Our school buildings may be temporarily closed, but we are actively transitioning to offering service outside the classroom and this includes supporting our students academically and emotionally. We know that our students are eager to learn and we will match this desire with work-from-home materials and support. While we understand that there are many questions and some anxiety about how this will happen, please be reassured that we will provide support throughout the process.”

I know that there are so many unanswered questions at this time as we all await further direction on what the educational program will look like.   The board is working with the Ministry of Education and its stakeholders to ensure there is an equitable and accessible plan for students and staff.    As soon as we have the information to share about next steps or phases moving forward within the Waterloo Region District School Board, we will share this with you immediately.

I respectfully request and thank you in advance for your continued patience and understanding.

Take care,

Vida Collis

Principal
